Choosing the Right Type of Mountain Bike | MBA Podcast

This week we’re talking about choosing the right bike. I’ve written all about this in the What Mountain Bike guide and I’m reading out one of the most asked questions from that guide today, just to get back into the swing of releasing these episodes. If you want to know what type of bike will suit you best, then listen on!

As I mentioned in the show, apologies for being away for a little while. Many things have taken over in the past 6 months, from babies to work to thesis writing. I’m coming out of the other end of it now, though, and looking to get back into a regular release schedule for this show.

Part of the problem was that I’ve just not been out on the bike much recently! In fact, ridiculously, the bike build that I talked about in the last episode is still not even started. The parts have been sitting in my garage since late last year. But, have no fear, that’s about to change: the bike build will continue, and I’m getting out riding a lot more now.

In fact, plans are in place for a wee trip south to Dalbeattie or Mabie Forest, I’d love to talk about them on a future show. The south west of Scotland has some of the best

Let me Know What You Want to Hear

As always, you’re the key to this show. I need to know what you need to know. If you have a question about mountain biking, whether it’s trails, skills or equipment, then get in touch. You can always tweet me @colinmcgray or you can get in touch via the contact page on this website. You can even hit up the Facebook page if that’s your communication tool of choice.

Whatever way you want to do it, I’d love to hear from you.

Mechanics, Come on the Show!

I’m looking to do some more equipment guides in future, and that means some extra specialised knowledge. I’m big into my bike building, but I’m not an expert by any means, so I’d love to get some real pros on the show to talk about things like disc brake services, maintaining your suspension, and the like. Those maintenance tasks that are just a bit beyond most average mountain bikers.

We can all change a tyre, or fit a new saddle, but some of the parts needs a bit more expertise. If you fancy talking me through it, then get in touch. Same way as above, use the contact page or otherwise!

Colin

Colin started mountain biking in the early 2000s and has haphazardly, and with barely increasing skill, dragged his bike around the majority of Scotland's trail centres since then. Colin has oodles of hard earned experience in how NOT to do things - listen, be warned and don't repeat his mistakes...   More about Colin... Google+ Colin
