Customising your Bike Gear and Brake Cables

Customising your mountain bike cables

Just a quick post to point you at a little article I read over on NSMBe magazine about a cheap and easy way to customise your bike cables, both gears and brakes.

I’ve always enviously eyed up the slick looking carbon-style cable casings but they’re so pointlessly expensive that I’ve never been able to justify them. This article, though, has a full guide to using electrician’s heat shrink tubing to bling your bike and get away from the standard black.

I’m going to take a wander to Maplin and see if they’ve got any nice colours to match my bike. Those UV reactive ones sound particularly flashy, glowing in the dark sounds mighty useful for night biking in the long scottish winter!
